Background

Jaap (Jacob) had been a business consultant and is now retired. He loves sailing and
recently sailed the Atlantic! He had been trading forex for around the past decade without success. Mindset challenges such as FOMO and greed had stopped him from achieving positive results.

Jacob attended a webinar hosted by Alpesh and was impressed with his knowledge &
approach. He saw it as a once in a lifetime opportunity – for a one-off charge, to gain
lifetime access to Alpesh. Jacob wants a luxurious retirement life, and if he is going to live another 40 years, he knew he had to do something with his pension pot better than the status quo.

Journey

Jacob was impressed with the education, services and support provided in the Great Investments Programme (GIP), as well as the results he started to see in the portfolios he was managing. GIP allowed him to understand new strategies & gain new knowledge regarding investing his money in stocks. In his past life as a business consultant, he produced reports but hadn’t used the indicators that the GIP gives. The Programme gave Jacob a new view on how to analyse companies which was very helpful. Jacob was much better off than when his funds were in a pension fund at 6-7%! The Programme gave Jacob the opportunity to earn much higher returns from his pension pot. He said, “If you want to stop working early, join the programme. I wish I could have joined it 20 years earlier!”” Jaap found that because he had self-discipline, motivation and interest, the learning process was fine. It all pays off.

Jaap learnt that Investing is highly driven by media – newspapers & tv. He learnt that its best to stay away from the news and if you look instead at technical analysis and make decisions based on that the market will reward you with a handsome return. Headlines – indices biggest move! But it’s a tiny move. Jaap says he wished he would have known this in March 2020.

Outcome

Since starting the Programme, Jacob started to manage his friend’s portfolio which is up 35%. Jacob has been delayed managing his own portfolio but would have had a 50% increase in his account last year because of markets. Another realisation Jacob found is that his Financial Advisor was using a company that spread is holdings across multiple funds. Within those funds there are many shares, so his funds may have been invested twice in the same fund! “It is a spray & pray approach with no strategy,” he said.
